what i've been up to
mrs. kathi of quilting hideaway did a wonderful job quilting both of my quilt tops:
can you believe that it was only two weeks between when i shipped these to her and when they were shipped back (much earlier than i had expected)!
the scrap quilt was quilted in a pattern called "swirling." i bound it in a blue and chocolate brown polka dot from lecien. the backing was a medium gray purchased on the cheap from joann's.
the underground railroad quilt was quilted in a pattern called "old oakky." hard to see, but there are oak leaves and acorns (!) in the pattern. i bound in in the same fabric as the border, and backed it in undyed muslin.
all of the photos above are from before i threw the quilts in the wash (the fabric used in the scrap quilt was pre-washed before sewing, the fabric in the underground railroad quilt was unwashed). and after:
wonderfully crinkled.
the scrap quilt has found a home in my new blanket basket. the underground railroad quilt? it will be under my parent's tree this christmas (any family who are reading this - don't tell!)

You did a wonderful job with both of these quilts! They are just beautiful, I especially like the colours and style of the scrap quilt.
Beautiful quilts! I love the colors. I'm trying to work my way through the quilt festival. So many lovely quilts to look at!
